Edelman’s Best-Kept Secret – My Living in Color Day
Edelman’s philosophy on Living in Color is what makes this agency stand apart from the rest, and is one of the many reasons I love my job.
Before I ventured down the road of all things digital and social media, I was a recent Art History grad and imagined myself working in the arts. After a few years of volunteering and rubbing elbows with the art-elite, I decided it wasn’t for me. That doesn’t mean I’ve turned my back on my degree or my passion for the arts. And it’s Edelman’s Living in Color day that allows me to balance these two (at times) very different worlds.
What’s this magical day I speak of? It’s Edelman’s best-kept secret, a.k.a. a day that employees can take off work to do something they are passionate about. My 2010 Living in Color day consisted of volunteering at a benefit art auction for C Magazine. An event I help out at every year.
This year was different because I could share my experience with fellow colleagues and show them a side of me that they otherwise may not have discovered. This is what I love about this day and the Living in Color philosophy. The opportunity to share with fellow coworkers what makes us tick and what adds color to our days is something that I think is unique to Edelman, and makes coming to work that much sweeter.
“Living in color doesn’t “take time.” It’s how you fill the time you have. It’s realizing you’re part of something bigger than you.” – Edelman.com
