While his career has spanned the advertising, publishing and public relations industries, John Clinton’s forté has been consistent – looking at client business problems from unusual angles, and driving creative strategies.
John leads a team of more than 200 people across Canada, encouraging them to think differently, take measured risks and focus on the client need as he does. During his career of more than 20 years, he has lead numerous national and global accounts such as Pepsi, Tim Hortons, Kraft and Kellogg’s, based at various times in Vancouver, Chicago, New York, Montreal and now Toronto, giving him a global perspective.
Recognized for his natural leadership skills, John was previously Senior Vice President, Digital Solutions and New Media at Transcontinental Media, one of Canada’s largest print and digital media companies, and headed advertising firms Grey Worldwide Canada and J Walter Thomson in Canada.
John has served as a board director for JWT, and is currently active on several other boards, including Special Olympics Canada, The Power Plant (Contemporary Art Gallery of Canada) and George P. Johnson Experience Marketing. John is a member of the Sauder School of Business Centre for CEO Leadership, and the Institute of Corporate Directors, having completed its Directors Education Program.
John is an accomplished sculptor with a focus in bronze. His work lives in collections in Canada, U.S. and Europe and has been in shows in Chicago, Toronto, Vancouver, Whistler and Banff.
