Edelman marks 60th anniversary

October 2012 marks the 60th anniversary of Edelman, the largest independent public relations firm in the world with 65 offices globally. Though local outpost Edelman Vancouver has not been around for quite as long, its general manager, Patti Schom-Moffatt, can relate to the tenacity and commitment required to run a successful PR company.

How Fashion (and other) Brands Can Leverage Instagram

While the audience of fashion-obsessed men and women is quite large, only a small sliver of them know what the day-in and day-out world of a large fashion brand is like. Instagram allows companies to humanize their brand and connect with a much more mainstream audience. Oscar de la Renta is a brand that has used the social space to give a larger audience access to its products with a click of a button. The@oscarprgirl Instagram account has 68,000+ Instagram followers and typically posts photos showcasing a “day in the life” of the brand.

Trust in Canadian Energy Sector Declines

We see the lack of trust in the energy sector starkly at work in B.C. Here, local governments, environmentalists and First Nations line up in opposition to oil pipelines through southern and northern B.C. Meanwhile, natural gas projects are hounded by critics of fracking and concerns about water use, the chemical composition of fracking fluids and even fracking-generated seismic activity. It’s time for companies in all sectors to turn their attention to regaining and earning trust.”
